Because of your blog, my wife and I are thinking of giving the sport a try at some point. Is it difficult to learn? (We are good swimmers but have never surfed. We do snow ski and rollerblade so we do have some balance.)
You don't need to know how to surf to enjoy learning this sport. My wife and I, and many of our friends, were not "surfers" before trying SUP. We had played with surfing a little over the years, but never enjoyed it enough to ever learn it.
SUP is far more rewarding and addictive that prone surfing.
I highly recommend you try SUP. It will change your life.
Without a surfing background, I suggest looking for a board with nice nose scoop. Pearling the nose is a newbies biggest problem when learning to SUP surf. Advanced boards all have nice nose scoop. Unfortunately many beginner boards do not.
