DW have you guys tried waist harnesses windsurfing? If you have what do you think?

The best harness is the one I designed for North Kiteboarding. It is a waist harness with leg straps. It's called the Transformer.

For waves a higher hook gives better balance while surfing. The issue with a waist without leg straps is the harness does ride up. Once the hook height rides up above the naval, you're forced to lean the shoulders back and force your back straight to get the sail to stop driving it up. It also forces a straight back riding style, which can be counter productive to getting maximum low end from your sail.

For flat water, a seat harness rules. It keeps the sail pull low, where it doesn't strain the back, and its efficient for extracting low end power from the sail. The downside, is it's no good wave riding.

nice summary and i totally agree. i use my waist harness for everything including formula. your idea about the straps is spot on- i'll check out your design.
