What GPS did you get? Are you using the standard software package it came with?
Garmin 305
The software that comes with it should be thrown away because it's very old. Download the latest software from Garmin's web site. It's free. Installing off the CD is bad because it has no update feature.
Even better, once the software is installed, uploaded to Garmin's myconnect site. It provides even better looking data than the software spits out. All free when you register your Garmin.
You don't have to read the crappy manual. You turn it on, hit the start timer and it records. Plug into your Mac when done and it downloads everything.
