Sealed the Blank Today

Might be a stupid question but why do you have to seal the blank? Does that affect the glass coat?

Not a stupid question. I made the video because I think lots of people don't know this is done.

1 lb EPS has large beads and lots of air between them. They make lots of places for resin to soak and add weight. Sealing the porous surface saves weight. Plus, people have found the bond actually improves between the epoxy and the blank when it's sealed first with spackle.

When 2 lb foam is used, people often skip the spackle step. For 1.5 lb foam spackle is usually done.
