One Interesting Idea I Might Test Myself

This handle idea has my interest.

Sam Pa'e did a nice job with this video at Makaha. PonoBill on Maui is also a fan of tail handles.

They swear waves just wash right over you and no leash rides.

I've noticed that when my board is upside down (fins up), it pulls through the waves easier. Guess the handle will be the SUP version of a long board turtle roll?

My only concern would be if a wave sneaks up on me and I'm holding the handle and have not had a chance to flip the board over! Ouch!

I swear by the tail handle, I used two EZ plugs, clear tygon tubing and nylon cord. I use it to ride out the white water when I get caught on the inside

Most of the boards I've seen with handles don't have tail pad to the far back. I could have used it this weekend.

Have you identified a place to install on the SV or are you thinking about it for your custom w/double leash plug?

If I install one, it would be like Curtis did it, with stick-on plugs. That way they can be removed with acetone before selling it.

I had to cut away a little on the tail pad to get the plugs down where I wanted, I tried to line it up with the leash hole. The guy at Surfco said that the black plugs have the strongest adhesive and the clear is the least strongest. I have the clear and it lasted since I got the SV in Feb. Surfco is the company who makes it.

I lined up the forward edge of the plug with the leash string hole
