Today's Garage Progress

The hot wire rig for Brian S.   It's connected to a variac

Jacky's board roughed out this morning

Northeaster at the North End this Morning

Wind averaging 16 mph at 10 am. Gusts to 22, but fading fast, like usual. Not enough to use the 10m Fuse today. I did a shortened downwind surf run due to the fading wind.

Hot Wire Work

Gorilla glued blank extension in place. Rocker already hot wired

Extension piece rough trimmed

People always ask, what are you doing different on this batch? I traced last seasons template design in red, to show the difference with the new shape (in blue)

Comparison of tail template changes. Fuller hip, narrower tail.

Hot wire work done. Ready for the planer.

It's That Time Again

The foam for downwind boards number 7 and 8. This foam came from Craft Hardware in Wrightsville Beach. They stock 1 lb EPS for contractors building docks. It's not ideal because it comes 23 1/2 wide, but it's cheaper due to no shipping cost on my part. Shipping doubles the cost of EPS.
The EPS survived the drive home

Unbelievable! You have to come see this....

Yesterday Apple released AirPlay for my Apple TV. I just wirelessly streamed Jacky's Movie Trailer video from my Laptop to my big flat screen TV, blasting the full movie surround sound experience through my system. I was shaking the walls. WOW, just like IMAX, well almost. Compared to watching it on my laptop it feels like IMAX.

A steal at $99

Firewire El Fuego long term report

Thrusters rule! At least on this stick.  It sure is nice to have 5 fin boxes to be able to make your own choice.  The 2 lb foam with bamboo deck isn't tough enough to handle the loads a kiter places on it. I never jump my surfboards, so it's just pure surfing loads with the extra drive from the kite. I had to pull up the deck pad and put carbon patches on the deck. I hid the carbon under the pads. It's doing fine now and still looks sexy in bamboo.

Nitro Wins

After using the Nitro a few weeks, we decided Jacky had to have one too. The whole package (clever handle design, oval flex shaft, and narrow dihedral blade) works awesome.
