More info: experienced surfer. 46 yo 140 lbs 14, 12'6 Surftech Lahui Kai, 10'6 Raven, 10' PSH Allrounder plus regular surfboards. The PSH really sluggish, prone to pearl, slow to turn in our typical conditions. Looking for a better SUP surf experience. Surf Unlimited happens to have a new (old) 7'9 Mana in. Any advice most appreciated on board selection. Ernie
I never surfed that Naish. It was killed shortly after it went into production. That fact could be a warning sign. Not good enough to stay in production a full season?
It is really difficult to drop from the 10 ft range to 7 ft something skill wise. Look at something in the 8'6 to 9 range as your next board.
I owned the 9'0 Naish Mana. There are a lot of those around here. It's a very user friendly board and fun to surf.
I've surfed a few Hobies. They are nice, but watch the width. Some of them are narrow. Great for California, horrible with windy Ocean Isle.
At your weight, something 29 wide would be easy, even in your on shore wind mess. Getting up around 31 wide and you'll just get a slower board at your weight.

Outline looks a little like the exocet Wind SUP.
Close to the Exocet.
This is the actual inspiration for the shape

Question from Ocean Isle Beach: any thoughts on a Naish Mana 7'9 for our typical waves? Thanks in advance, Ernie
