This beauty is more high performance than she looks! It's very quick. Spins on a dime. This is the ultimate all around ride for fit women wanting to surf waves. A board not too difficult, light and loose. Something you won't outgrow. Not so big it will try to kill you. For guys, it's a stick that will rip for the weekend warrior, who doesn't get the water time needed for the Hokua range. I can't wait to steal it on a big day. I had a blast surfing it before Jacky got home from work!

Going all Cork

I tried Versa-Traction between the front and rear traction pad this weekend. Way too slippery. It works for SUP, but not when a kite is pulling you. Tonight I added some more cork. These are OAM pads make with cork. I doubt there is much cork in them because they don't feel a lot different. But the traction did feel freaky good, so maybe it makes a little difference. I bought them for the color!

Oak Island and El Fuego

Oak Island goes off again. We're finding E wind blows about 4 to 5 mph harder there, than at home.

El Fuego and its slightly fishy template feels like it's made for kiting. There is none of that nose dancing you get from a shortboard with the wide point at center or slightly behind center. For those that don't kite, when you drive a shortboard with kite power at 20-25 mph, they don't like it so much. You can't always go slow, you need to drive upwind sometimes. El Fuego loves to drive upwind. It can take a lot of front foot loading and it seems to love it. It smokes upwind smooth as silk.

El Fuego - The Right Tool

I took El Fuego for a spin in 12 mph wind this morning. My 12m kite was barely flying. Lines going slack as I nursed it to the water. The fishy shape felt sooo much better than what I had been using, a 6'3 x 18 something wide Stretch. El Fuego is 5'11 x 20 wide. That extra width is just what I needed. It was never fair that kitesurfing specific surfboards were always 18 something wide. Great for the average 155 pound kiter, not so great for me.

The fishy shape felt so dam good. I could pump the front foot so easily and feel some results! It was crazy to be able to even ride in todays wind!

I took it for a spin strapless and strapped. Strapless never felt so easy and sweet! The traction pad kick under the front foot is awesome. The kick makes the front foot so much more secure under the drive of the kite.

The main ingredients are the forward volume and nose area that provides resistance under front foot loading, when pumping down the line whilst looking for speed from nothing.
