My new Downwind and Windsurf Board

All in one. The original plan was to build a 22 lb ultra light downwind planing board. Then I obtained some military Harrier Jet carbon fiber some guy had stored in his barn for years. The deal was too good to pass up. The carbon was twice the thickness I normally use. The result was a 28 lb board as strong as a Harrier Jet, so why not add the mast insert and sail it too! Of course now I have to build another one with light carbon to get my 22 lb board too.

With Cabrinha handle. Handle works sick, but may be too risky to have there with a sail onboard. A footstrap may replace the handle when sailing.

Hunter's First Surf on his 7'3 Hokua this Morning

After 3 or 4 weeks of waiting, some waves finally hit on a day when Hunter is not working. Sorry about the photo quality. Shot with my iphone and cropped heavily.

The following sequence is one wave

Hunter loves the 7'3. Stable! Fast!

Nice Naish Video

This little guys board looks like a smaller custom version of Jacky's 7'3 Hokua. It has to be 6' something. Template looks just like the 7'3.

More New Toys

The new toy is Aperture 3 from Apple. Their pro photo software. Formerly $199, now $79 thanks to the new App Store for Macs. Woohoo, thanks Steve Jobs! A slide show from old photos of my first days on the 7'8 Hokua. Probably weighing close to 200 lbs in all that rubber. Surf is flat today and I have a head cold. Look for more slide shows this weekend as I get bored being stuck indoors.
