There is a NEW Surf Machine in Town
2011 PSH Ripper Sneak Peak???
Being a backyard hack board shaper, I love studying photos and video to see what's up and how certain shapes behave. Blane is up to something this Fall and here is what "I think" is going on.
Blane shaped some downwind race boards this summer. Then he tried surfing them and discovered the displacement bow (boat bow versus surfboard bow) does some magical things. For one, it doesn't catch and dump your ass should it go under for a split second.
Fast forward to today and he's shaping Ripper models now called the Hull Ripper. Notice the race board inspired boat bow? It appears he's taken advantage of the displacements bows ability to run dangerously low and not catch. The nose rocker has been lowered. He's claiming the boards are FAST. It all makes sense to me. I'm not sure I have the surfer skills to manage such a low nose rocker in beach break surf. But I'm sure people more skilled than me will tear it up on these.

Magic Morning
Super fun surf this morning. Light offshore wind and nice swell. The Three Musketeers (DW, CB1, Z) had a blast swapping boards all morning. For once, we all agree on the magic model in each line (Naish and PSH). For PSH, it's the 8'6 WR bamboo and for Naish, it's the 9'0 Mana. You can't wipe the smile off your face when surfing either of those. They just stand out. The Musketeers all weigh about the same, so that could be why we all agree.

Surf is Still Out There!
Surf all week for the after work crew. Tonight Jacky got home early from work and was able to take some photos. I get to surf her 9'0 Mana all week! Yippee
Jacky was told by her doctor to rest all week. She's getting an MRI on her back Saturday. Maybe we'll finally find the source of the pain she has been having since Spring.

Playing in Poo
The weather did not cooperate today. 45 degree off shore wind and light. Sketchy kitesurfing and just enough wind to make SUP a challenge too.
We're still feeling the affects of the heavy rain all last week. Poo runoff into the ocean everywhere. Water considered unsafe for swimming. Yesterdays high winds cleaned up the poo. Today's wind allowed the poo to return
